At Flying E Ranch, we go the extra mile to ensure that we offer the best horseback riding vacations in the West.
We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced 2-hour trail rides daily at 9:30 am and 2:00 pm, except for Sundays and the Christmas day, when we give the horses a break by saddling up only once a day for a 9:30 am ride.
All our wranglers are personable and have completed classes in Horse Safety and Adaptive First Aid. Riding helmets are not provided, though you may bring your own.
We have a wide variety of trails on our 20,000-acre ranch and our experienced wranglers are here for your guided rides. All first-day first-time riders go on the scenic ride, then you can upgrade to intermediate or advanced riding for a variety of walking, trotting, and loping. Our wranglers have final say, based on your riding abilities and experience.
Please don’t be offended when we ask you for your height and weight, it is only so we can select the perfect horse for you. Children ride along with the adults on the trails (we have no separate children’s program) and must be at least 6 years old and able to ride and control their own horse for the 2-hour ride. If they are unable to trail ride, we can arrange for a ride around the corral for the small buck-a-roos. Memories are our priority!
Most rides are 2 hours.
We are a dude ranch specializing in the best horseback riding vacations, so riding is the main attraction. What if you don’t ride or you want to take a day off from riding? No worries! There are plenty of activities at the Flying E Ranch to keep guests of any age entertained for hours.
(Horseback rides are not included in lodging rates)
One Ride (per day) — $50
Two Rides (per day) — $80
Guests who exceed 250 lbs may have riding limitations.
We require riders to wear long jeans/denim pants or riding pants (no shorts), high top boots with a heel (we have cowboy boots in all sizes to lend at no charge), a hat with a rim and stampede strings (we also have hats with strings to lend at no charge). Baseball caps may be worn only if you have a string to attach the cap to the rider. Riding gloves are optional. If you prefer a helmet, you will need to bring your own. We do not supply riding helmets.
Pantyhose, tights, long johns, or bike shorts under your jeans will help prevent chafing while racking up those miles in the saddle, and long socks are best for your feet while wearing boots. Remember that we are in the Sunbelt, so bring sunscreen (don’t forget to do the top of your hands!), sunglasses, a scarf or bandanna, and your swimsuit for the heated pool and especially to sit in the hot Jacuzzi after riding.
