We are delighted you will be joining us for a Flying E Ranch visit. We look forward to meeting and welcoming you into our Ranch family. We hope the following information will be helpful and give you an idea of what you will need to pack for one of our unforgettable dude ranch vacations. There are stores and pharmacies in Wickenburg, just 4 miles away, if you forget to bring anything.
The calendar may say winter, but that has a whole new meaning in Arizona. Our winters are warm and dry, averaging temperatures in the mid-70s. The nights are cool and refreshing, illuminated by a canopy of brilliant stars. May we suggest you check the Internet just before your arrival for our weather reports? Our zip code is 85390. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
This is casual country and formal dress is not required for dinner. Come prepared to layer up or down, as it can be cool in the morning and evening, yet warm to hot in the middle of the day. Jeans are the height of our dress code. A long sleeve button down shirt can provide warmth on a cool morning and protect you from the sun on a warm afternoon. Bring a jacket for the evenings, as it can get cool after sundown, when you’re sitting on the patio gazing at the brilliant skies. Don’t forget your swimsuit for the heated pool and hot tub. If you don’t have your own, we have boots and hats to loan.
The ranch does not provide a laundry facility for our guests, but there are options in Wickenburg.
Horseback Riding Gear
A highlight of dude ranch vacations is horseback riding, and we want you to be best prepared. We require riders to wear long jeans/denim pants or riding pants (no shorts), high top boots with a heel (we have cowboy boots in all sizes to lend at no charge), a hat with a rim and stampede strings (we also have hats with strings to lend at no charge). Baseball caps may be worn only if you have a string to attach the cap to the rider. Riding gloves are optional. If you prefer a helmet, you will need to bring your own. We do not supply riding helmets.
Pantyhose, tights, long johns, or bike shorts under your jeans will help prevent chafing while racking up those miles in the saddle, and long socks are best for your feet while wearing boots. Remember that we are in the Sunbelt, so bring sunscreen (don’t forget to do the top of your hands!), sunglasses, a scarf or bandanna, and your swimsuit for the heated pool and especially to sit in the hot Jacuzzi after riding.
Hair dryers are provided in our rooms. Other personal items can be purchased in Wickenburg.
